Lights, blood, action: the first days filming In The Flesh

There's a particular kind of quiet on a horror set right before the first take. Everyone knows what's coming, and nobody wants to be the one who breaks the tension. That's how the first day of In The Flesh felt: a house full of crew, lights glowing red, and a cast ready to get very uncomfortable.

Finding the mansion

In The Flesh lives and dies by its location. Athena's nightmare happens inside one house, so the house had to feel like a character of its own. We spent weeks scouting before landing on a place with long hallways, heavy doors and the kind of shadows you can't build on a budget.

Painting with red

The look of the film came together fast. Deep reds, pools of darkness and practical lights tucked into corners gave every room a sense that something was watching. The early days were all about locking in that look so every scene that followed would feel like it belonged in the same fever dream.

Long nights, good people

Indie horror runs on late nights and a crew that's willing to try one more take. Between makeup, stunts and more fake blood than anyone planned for, the first week set the tone for the whole shoot: ambitious, a little chaotic, and a lot of fun.

More behind-the-scenes stories are on the way. Stay tuned.
